Litetronics Spiral-Lite GU24 Compact Fluorescent Light

A company called Litetronics founded in 1970 inevitably calls to mind, like, wow, groovy, man, check out the psychedelic strobes! Hey, is that a lava lamp?!

Of course, nothing could be further from the truth. While we haven't done extensive library research on just what Literonics was making back in those tie-dyed days, we do know that the Illinois-based lighting innovator is about as 21st century as can be, with a whole line of ever-more-compact Compact Fluorescent Lights — a.k.a. CFLs. Litetronics' latest, the Spiral-Lite GU24, introduced in October, incorporates some of the most up-to-the-minute technology in the field. Or up-to-the-month, at least...

"GU24" lamps are those made to be used in GU24 sockets, a special type designed solely for such energy efficient lights as CFLs. So make sure you have those sockets. And trust us : With the current push for green initiatives and the long-term cost-savings of CFLs, you'll probably have GU24 faster than you can say OMG (which you'll be saying if you use the company's online energy-savings calculator to see how much money ineffcient lighting makes you lose).

This particular model comes in 13-watt, 18-watt and 23-watt versions, which with CFLs is brighter than it sounds. The 23-watt light is rated at 1725 lumens brightness, the equivalent of more than 120 watts of incandescent light. They're also said to last 10,000 hours, or 10 times that of incandescent bulbs.Energy Star qualified, it comes with a one-year warranty.
