April 18, 2016 — Streets are named for those timeless real estate staples: greed, trickery, and money lust.

The battle continues over Staten Island borough president James Oddo’s decision to name the streets of a controversial new condo development after those timeless New York real estate staples: greed, trickery, and money lust.

The lawyer for the Savo Brothers, who are turning the 15-acre former Jesuit retreat at Mount Manresa into a 250-unit condo development, has filed an appeal of a judge’s decision to uphold Oddo’s authority to name of the streets in the development Cupidity Lane (strong desire for wealth), Fourberie Lane (trickery or deceit), and Avidity Place (greed), DNAinfo reports.

The conversion of the 104-year-old retreat into condominium townhouses has been dogged by protests and controversy – over the felling of 400-year-old trees; over construction crews who lied about not finding asbestos during the demolition; and over a payment by the developer of $65,000 to former borough president James Molinaro’s lobbying firm.

No word yet from the broker community if streets named Cupidity Lane, Fourberie Lane and Avidity Place will hamper sales or actually enhance values due to their bracing candor.
