Local Law 11 Reports Are Now All Digital

New York City

Nov. 7, 2016 — Boards need to register online before filing digital facade repair reports.

Back in September, we told you about the city Department of Buildings' new DOB Now program, the first phase in the rollout of the department’s new $29.6 million computer system. In an effort to do away with cumbersome paperwork, the system is transferring a wide range of tasks online, from licensing and permits to reporting safety violations. “DOB Now will make it easier for everyone involved with a project to get up-to-date information,” said Anoush Hovhannessian, the expediter for Merritt Engineering Consultants.

But with convenience comes responsibility. All co-op and condo boards and their property managers need to be aware that DOB is no longer accepting hard copies of Facade Inspection Safety Program, or Local Law 11, reports. All FISP reports must now be submitted electronically through the DOB Now online portal. In order to access DOB Now, boards and managers must first register with DOB’s eFiling system. FISP reports cannot be filed if the building’s owner has not registered.

This is not the time to procrastinate. The deadline for filing digital FISP 8th Cycle reports is Feb. 21, 2017.
