Habitat Publisher Carol J. Ott Featured in Radio Interview

New York City

Oct. 3, 2023 — Magazine's founder discusses Climate Mobilization Act and other co-op and condo issues.

Carol J. Ott, publisher and editor-in-chief of Habitat magazine, will be the featured guest of Brooklyn-based WBAI (99.5-FM) radio's "Living for the City" program at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 11 a.m.

The interview, hosted by Michael G. Haskins, focuses primarily on the city's sweeping Climate Mobilization Act's Local Law 97, which will require owners of large buildings, including co-op and condo boards, to reduce their buildings' carbon emissions under prescribed caps beginning in 2024, or face hefty fines.

The law is a pressing concern for co-op and condo boards, as witnessed by the city's recent release of a second round of rules on how buildings can comply, and the introduction of a new bill before the New York City Council that seeks to push back enforcement of the law by a decade.

In addition to the Climate Mobilization Act, Ott discusses the evolution of Habitat's coverage over its forty-year-plus existence. Since she began publishing the magazine in May 1982, it has evolved into a trusted source of information for co-op, condo and homeowners association directors throughout metropolitan New York City.
