What's the important part? That Perf Go Green makes it free and easy to recycle these things. You know how packages of batteries always say, "Dispose of properly," and how most of us have no idea what what means and so we just put them in the trash? (Personally, we once tried taking batteries to our local firehouse, as the battery company suggested when we called to ask what "Dispose of properly" meant, and the firefighters looked at us like we were crazy. And that's why they call them New York's Bravest and not New York's Most Environemntally Aware.) Now, however, through the site IRecycled.com, Perf Go Green helps you keep battery chemicals from getting into landfills (and water tables, etc.) and offers discounts and the like.

The PerfPower batteries will be rolling out in new packaging soon, the publicly traded company says, but for now, you can find AAA and AA four-packs, C and D two-packs and 9-volt single-pack batteries (that last the kind most smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors use) for $4.99 to $5.99 suggested retail — and in practice, from $3.99 to $5.49 at the Drugstore.com PerfPower page, the primary place they're available.
