The SecurOS AUTO brand system from the New Jersey-based Intelligent Security Systems is an "intelligent module" that uses SecurOS, a proprietary variant on the common Unix computer-operating system. It provides license plate recognition and comparative analysis of face plates for all types of vehicles. The company says it works reliably in the wide range of external conditions, and is easily integrated into legacy security equipment, executive devices and external databases. Overall, it's is a way of dealing with registration tasks and issues of car safety and traffic/access control.
The system, says the company, provides "advanced reaction" capability — love that Tom Clancyesque term — and automatic notification of your security staff or other involved entity; works with your existing equipment and devices, such as barriers and automatic gates; allows database searches of images, video and information of time, date and vehicle direction; and integrates with external databases, including prohibition/permission to pass, and automatic notification regarding vehicles with a flagged license plate.
There's something obviously Big Brotherish about this automated ability to track and database every vehicle's identity and coming-and-going, but ... well there is no "but." It is what it is. If garage security or simple parking-space hanky-panky is an issue, license-plate recognition is a solution.
