Tribeca is the Second Priciest Zip Code in the Nation

Tribeca, Manhattan

Dec. 22, 2017 — Atherton, California has the nation’s highest median home sale price.

For all of you real-estate junkies who weren’t slated by our post earlier this week announcing that Tribeca is New York City’s priciest neighborhood and Malba has staked its claim as “the Hamptons of Queens,” we have some fresh fuel for your addiction. Business Insider reports that Tribeca’s 10013 zip code, loaded with luxury condos, is the second most expensive zip code in all the U.S. of A., with a median sale price of $4.1 million, up 7.7 percent from last year. The only zip code that is even rougher on a homebuyer’s wallet is in the Silicon Valley town of Atherton, California, where the median sale price was $4.95 million.

Sagaponack, on the eastern end of Long Island, had topped the list the past two years, but it tumbled all the way to 15th place this year, mainly due to a flurry of sales at “lower price points,” according to PropertyShark. The median sale price fell by almost half, to $2.82 million. Meanwhile, New York City’s 10007, which includes Soho and parts of Tribeca, was in fourth place, with a median sale price of $3.9 million.

San Francisco has nine zip codes in the top 110, the most of any city, followed by seven in New York City. Five of the top 10 priciest zip codes are in California, four are in New York State, and one is in Florida. Of the nation’s 110 most expensive zip codes, 77 are in California and 19 are in New York.
