To help us all celebrate St. Patrick’s Day – and put New York real estate in its proper perspective – the nice people at CityRealty have put together an infographic that compares what you can buy in New York for the price of a castle on the Emerald Isle.

CityRealty, the website for prospective buyers of New York real estate, found that $7.2 million will buy a 21-bedroom castle in Limerick with 20,000 square feet of floor space and a 380-acre estate for fox hunting or whatever else you choose to do with all the free time you’ll have on your hands. Meanwhile, that same $7.2 million will buy you a run-of-the-mill 4-bedroom Yorkville penthouse with 2,443 feet of floor space.

But the deal clincher for us was the info at the top of this yarn. The median price of an apartment in Manhattan has now reached $1.2 million. That will cover the cost of 208,333 pints of Guinness Stout, easily enough to tide even the merriest soul over till next St. Patrick’s Day.
