Water and Energy Benchmarking Deadline Pushed to August 1

New York City

Water and energy benchmarking, deadline, DOB, co-op and condo boards.
April 22, 2020

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 public health emergency, building owners who are not able to submit their CY2019 benchmarking information by May 1, 2020 will not be issued a violation for non-compliance if they submit a fully compliant report by August 1, 2020, the Department of Buildings (D)B) has announced. In addition, payments for benchmarking violations are required to be submitted in eFiling.

Local Law 84 of 2009 and Local Law 133 of 2016 require owners of covered buildings to submit energy and water consumption data to the city annually by May 1st. Building owners who are unable to submit a report by May 1, 2020 will not receive a violation if they submit a fully compliant report by August 1, 2020. Building owners who do not submit benchmarking information by May 1, 2020 will receive a reminder to submit by August 1, 2020 in the form of a Notice of Non-Submission. Applicants who have not submitted a fully compliant report by August 1, 2020 will be subject to violations for each quarter that they have been non-compliant.

Benchmarking Violation Fees
